Legacy Wood Products is a full-service mill. Although our primary product is heart pine flooring, we can also provide you with cypress products as well. We are capable of milling virtually any home building product you might want. Other products include stair treads and risers, architectural beams, mantels, handrails, moldings, balusters, and newels.

At Legacy Wood Products, we keep no standing inventory of production. Every floor we mill is custom-cut to your specifications. This means you are free to order precisely what you want. If you want a six-inch board, that is what you receive. We do not mill a six-inch board to 5 inches and then charge you for six inches. If you want random widths, we will accommodate you. Whether you want your floor square-cut or tongue-and-groove, with or without back relief, the choice is yours. We invite you to make your Legacy Wood Products order as unique as your home will be.

Flooring comes in two product classes: Select and Premium. These classes reflect the personality of the floor, not the quality of the flooring. The product class you desire reflects the nature of the feel you wish to create in your home. When describing the attributes of any of the classes, it should be noted that they are described in terms that are relative to each other.

  • Select: Greater variability than Premium with regard to grain density and color. Distress is more frequent and may include nail holes, bolt holes, larger knots, and/or bluestain.

  • Select Board Sample
  • Premium: Generally tight grain. Mostly vertical grain with tight, small cathedrals. Color is predominantly a rich red, with occasional blonde highlights. Nail holes may be present. Infrequent bolt holes may be defect-cut or plugged. Knots are small, infrequent, and tight.
  • Premium Board Sample

Purchasing heart pine products is not like going to a home improvement store to buy freshly milled, yellow pine studs. It should be noted that there are no national, quantitative standards with regard to heart pine flooring classifications. These classes are subjective and are as individual as the mill you purchase them from. This means that clear communication as to the client's expectations and a consistent grading by the mill in question are the keys to a satisfying experience. In order to assure your satisfaction, Legacy Wood Products will work with you as closely and as individually as you desire. We rely on the integrity of three important resources - our raw material, our ownership, and our employees - and all three will be at your complete disposal.
